Itinerary

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL DAY – Pickup from 12 to 2 pm at Lamezia Terme Airport. where Chef Luciano will be waiting.

First, stop at Olearia “Oro Don Vincenzo” for a visit and a tasting of olive oil, then transfer to Agriturismo Malena. Accommodation in the room.

Welcome dinner.

DAY 2 – CORIGLIANO – BUFFALO FARM. Wake up early with Breakfast at 6.30 am and depart immediately afterward to Corigliano Calabro where we will visit La Favella Buffalo Farm. Guided tour and tasting of their products.

Lunch at A Loggia Trattoria – Return to Agriturismo Malena for dinner.

DAY 3 – LONGOBUCCO AND COOKING CLASS – After breakfast, we will prepare for a day of immersion in the history and popular traditions of Calabria, we will go to Longobucco where we will visit:

  • Weaving Museum (CELESTINO)
  • Bakery “Bottega del Pane” and we will witness the manufacture of the famous Calabrian taralli and their bread.
  • Art Crafts: Permanent Exhibition “Craft and Ancient Crafts”

Lunch at the Trattoria da Maria. Evening Cooking Class with Chef Luciano at Agriturismo Malena

DAY 4 – CIRO – ROSSANO –  Today we will go to Ciro and we will be guests of the Cellars of Nicodemo Librandi. The day begins in the winery, where guests are guided in an in-depth visit of every section. From there, we set off for the Rosaneti vineyards, where we take our visitors on a tour of our olive groves on our pick-up trucks. We then head to the top of the hills, where they can enjoy an especially stunning view. Next, we visit the Agricultural Museum located in the early nineteenth-century farmhouse at the heart of summer. Lunch was then provided at our guest quarters in the farmhouse, and the afternoon was spent taking a relaxing stroll among the vines.

In the afternoon we will visit the Liquorice Museum in Rossano.

Return and transfer to Agriturismo Villa Santa Caterina where we will dine.

DAY 5 – COSENZA AND RENDE – Today we will visit Cosenza and its wonderful Old Town. We will visit the Duomo and the Castle of Frederick II, we will walk in the streets of the historic center and we could stop in the small local shops. In the early afternoon, we will stop for an Aperitivo  (the Italian break for lunch) at the Antico Caffè Renzelli, the oldest coffee shop in the city.

Transfer to Rende and visit the historical center with dinner.

Return to Agriturismo Villa Santa Caterina.

DAY 6 – SILA AND SURROUNDINGS: Unique morning with the excursion of the Steam Train heading San Giovanni in Fiore with a visit of the Abbey and lunch at Cascina da Fiore – dei Cuochi Contadini Silani.

After lunch, we will be back in Camigliatello for the evening where you can buy some souvenirs and have dinner at Vecchio Mercato Falcone downtown. Return to Montalto Uffugo at the hotel after dinner.

DAY 7 – PIZZO AND SPILINGA – After breakfast, we will leave for the Tonno Callipo plant, where in addition to the guided tour inside the plant we will taste some tuna-based delicacies.

We will continue to Spilinga – the capital of Nduja – with a visit to the Nduja San Donato plant and tasting of their products.

At lunch, we will stop at the Restaurant il Tiglio for a menu based Calabrian typical and local products.

In the late afternoon, we will move to Pizzo Calabro first stop at Piedigrotta and then visit Castello Murat and ending to Bar Ercole – for a demonstration and tasting of the famous gelato “Tartufo di Pizzo”.

Return to Villa Santa Caterina hotel.

DAY 8 – GRISOLIA – DAY AT THE BEACH – It is the day dedicated to the sea and to fish. After breakfast, we leave for Grisolia at the Hotel Il Cormorano – where we will spend the day on the beach with music, joy, and sun. At lunchtime, we will be guests of the Chef Francesco with a menu based on fresh fish.

At around 2.30 pm – a private boat will pick us up for a cruise to Dino’s Island and the wonderful Calabrian coast for a duration of 5 hours.

On the way back we’ll lead Diamante – Capital of Chili Pepper, where we’ll spend the rest of the evening with a pizza and a walk along the seafront.

DAY 9 – FIUMEFREDDO BRUZIO – Fiumefreddo Bruzio and lunch at Osteria Convivio, guests of the local Proloco with a tour of the whole town.

Return to the hotel and dinner at La Cambusa restaurant.

DAY 10 – LAST DAY – After breakfast and greetings we will direct to the airport in Lamezia Terme for the end of the tour. We should be at the airport at 6 am.
